Key Stage 4 (GCSE)
Oral (Speaking, Viewing and Listening), Reading and Writing are assessed.
The scheme of assessment will consist of three parts:
Controlled Oral tasks 30%
Final assessment of Reading and Writing 40%
Assessment of Reading and Writing coursework 30%
Two examination papers will be set for the final Reading and Writing assessment:
Foundation Tier for grades C - G
Higher Tier for grades A* - D
Final Oral Examination 45%
Foundation Tier Paper for grades C - G
Higher Tier Paper for grades A* - D
There will be two Sections - one on Poetry and the other on a novel
Final Oral Examination 30%
One task, appropriate for the Tier, based on visual presentation of literature – comparing text to a video based on it.
There will be two written tasks
One critique based on short stories
One creative task based on a play
Key Stage 4 - ENTRY PATHWAY CERTIFICATE
The Entry Pathway Certificate is designed for pupils for whom GCSE is not deemed appropriate.
The course is based on a combination of coursework (50%) and a final external examination(50%)
The assessment objectives are weighted as follows:-
The coursework is based on 5 work units.
